Advisory Notice – Limited Area Impacted

July 10, 2025

We were recently notified that, due to a high algae bloom in Mattoon’s water supply, the water is currently not safe to drink. This source serves a small portion of EJ members, and 11 members in Shelby County, South of Gays, are currently impacted.

Notifications have been sent directly to all members in the affected area.

We are actively working to switch the water source supplying these locations. As a precaution, we have issued a Do Not Drink or Consume advisory for these specific addresses until further notice.

Our technicians are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, and a follow-up notification will be sent to the 11 impacted members once the advisory has been lifted.

Please refer to the screenshot below for a visual outline of the impacted area.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

UPDATE: 7/11/2025 at 4:50 PM

We are pleased to inform that the Do Not Drink or Consume advisory has been lifted for these locations. Our team has successfully adjusted the water supply and confirmed through testing that your water is now safe to drink and use.

You may now resume normal use of your water, including drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and bathing.

Please note: this notice only applies to the 11 EJ Water members who were impacted by the advisory.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this precautionary advisory. Your safety and the quality of your drinking water remain our highest priority.
