Dear Members,
We are providing a public notice regarding an EPA violation. This notice is similar to the public notice that was issued earlier this year in June. Samples collected in the 3rd Quarter (July – September) at EJ Water – SangChris (DS2) had high levels of Total Trihalomethanes (TTHMs). The results from these samples raised the rolling average above the maximum contaminant level. After the high sample results, we cleaned lines and continued to flush. Since then, samples in November have been below the limit. Continued low results will put the water system back in compliance. Until then, a public notice will be scheduled for every 90 days. Clink the below link to see the full public notice.
What should I do?
• You do not need to use an alternative (e.g., bottled) water supply. However, if you have specific health concerns, consult your doctor.
What does this mean?
This is not an immediate risk. If it had been, you would have been notified immediately. However, some people who drink water containing trihalomethanes in excess of the MCL over many years may experience problems with their liver, kidneys, or central nervous systems, and may have an increased risk of getting cancer.
What happened? What is being done?
While the annual average was exceeded, the most recent results show THM levels to be below the standard. Routine flushing to prevent water age is being conducted, and we anticipate resolving the problem immediately.
