Water Lab and Testing
Once testing is complete, you will receive your results either by email or mail, based on your preference. You can also contact the lab directly to request your results or inquire about their status.
If a water sample is rejected due to improper collection, contamination, or missing documentation, the lab will notify you, and you will need to submit a new sample. We will provide guidance on the correct submission procedures.
If you need to cancel or reschedule a test, contact the lab at least 24 hours before your scheduled submission or testing date to avoid any delays or potential changes.
No, only use the sterile, laboratory-provided containers for water sampling. These containers are specifically designed to prevent contamination and ensure accurate testing results.
To collect a water sample, use the sterile container provided by the lab. Be sure to follow the instructions for sampling, including collecting from the appropriate location (e.g., kitchen tap for drinking water) and ensuring no contamination occurs during collection.
Common contaminants include bacteria (e.g., coliform and E. coli), nitrates, lead, arsenic, and other heavy metals, as well as organic chemicals from industrial pollution or agricultural runoff.
Results typically take between 5 to 7 business days depending on the type of test. For urgent testing, expedited services may be available.
EJ Water Cooperative Water Lab accepts samples from a variety of water sources, including drinking water from wells, municipal sources, and surface water like rivers and ponds.
It is recommended to test your water at least once a year for contaminants such as bacteria, nitrates, and pH levels. If you notice changes in taste, color, or odor, testing should be done immediately.
